Future projections show a rise of tablets being sold, which allows consumers to have yet another way to buy online.

The trend shows that the e-commerce growth rate is about twice the growth rate of retail sales.  Even during the recession in 2008/2009, e-commerce sales had a growth rate above that of retail.  This could be caused by the convenience of e-commerce that allows people to shop from home and compare prices without having to drive to several different stores.

Increasing gas prices seems to correlate with increasing e-tail sales and could be one of the many factors as to why e-commerce is getting popular.  There is a significant increase in e-tail sales during the fourth quarter due to Christmas shopping, but we can see the steady increase of e-tail sales over time when comparing the same quarter each year.

As well as the number as the damage amounts increased in the last 30 year. Reaching a total damage of 200 billion dollars in 2011 (about 1.3% of the US gross domestic product)
